People live in different circumstances

People have always lived in different circumstances, and we are fortunate to be in an era with a modern heating system. We are lucky to have a reliable heating system and hot water in this cold weather, but some distant generations before us neither had a reliable heating system nor hot water in winter.

Each generation lives in a different set of circumstances and leads a different lifestyle, be it good or bad. Living in cold weather and not being able to access a warm place to sleep or hot water to use for showers and other necessary things is a grave problem. Imagine living in a place where the cold surpasses 30 degrees Fahrenheit; imagine not having an adequate substance with which to heat your home. How would you feel or how would your situation be? Would that not be an awful situation?

We are lucky that we do not live in such conditions unless we are unable to pay our heating bill, for one reason or another. Those of us who live in cold countries understand the severity of being without heat in winter when the cold is so bitter and everything exposed to it without protective measures dies instantly. Severe cold is cruel. It kills people, strips trees of their leaves and life signs, and forces reptiles and some other animals to hibernate for a long time. Winter can be as brutal as hell. Severe cold is, of course, a tiny piece taken from the hellfire called Zamhareer and brought to earth, as Prophet Muhammad told us. Canadian winter is very harsh in some provinces and territories of Canada, including Alberta. The five coldest places in the country are Nunavut, Yukon, Northwest Territories, Alberta, and Quebec. The first three are territories (places mostly populated by First Nation people); the last two are provinces, the former being a western province, while the latter is an eastern one.

If we take care of our bills, we can enjoy a constant, undisrupted heating system round the clock. And we can adjust the heat to our liking, notching it up or down. Nowadays, we who live in cold countries use natural gas or fuel oil to heat our homes. The wide use of gas and fuel oil as sources of heat has been the norm since the 1960s, a time when the use of coal and wood fell sharply. Imagine those distant generations who lived before us. They did not have a smart heating system. They relied on coal to warm up their homes, and even some could not afford to get enough coal.

While people who live in tropical countries do not think that much about a heating system, we in cold countries value it a lot, for we rely on it to survive, especially in winter when temperatures drop below zero and further. We are blessed with a modern, smart heating system that warms up our homes in a few minutes.
