Global Warming is presenting the world with problems and humans are at stake. Untimely torrential rains, floods, and excessive heat are tormenting the world’s population. Global warming and climate change are two different terms, connoting different meanings. The former is concerned with the earth’s rising temperature; the latter refers to warming and the “side effects” of warming. Climate change alters weather patterns by melting glaciers, causing heavier rainstorms, and leading to frequent droughts.

Dry seasons and hot temperatures ignite wildfires that devastate landscapes and purge people of their homes. Fire is humans’ worst enemy, for it erodes soil and makes people incapacitated, even if they do not lose life or limb. They become powerless when they lose their properties and belongings, and cannot easily rebuild them. Not only do they lose their homes, but they also lose their attachment to familiar neighbourhoods which they might never return to.
Fires afflict many countries every year. Canada is among countries affected by raging fires that flare up from time to time, especially in drier seasons. According to government sources, high temperatures and lightning are the major causes that ignite fires. Nevertheless; there could be other causes, as well. As of this week, over three hundred fires are blazing in British Columbia province, with half of them classified as out of control. “Thousands of residents are under evacuation alert, readying to leave their homes at a moment’s notice.” This province tops the list when comes to fire disasters.

Like British Columbia, Alberta province experiences yearly fires. They devastate and evict communities. As of today; three northern Alberta communities are being evacuated due to fires advancing to their dwellings. Five major blazes are posing a severe threat to the communities. Firefighters are struggling to mitigate risks posed by the fires. Over the past two weeks, more than one hundred fires have blazed in the province, though most of them have been put out.
Climate change is believed to be playing a big role in the recurring fires. They are a big threat to many Canadians. Both global warming and climate change are altering the earth’s outlook, amending weather patterns, and negatively affecting people’s lives.
